Meet Dr. Tri Nguyen

  • Tri Nguyen has been a product of public school education from Franklin McKinley School District to the University of California, Davis.  Tri has been in the education field for the past 12 years, he worked for eight years as a teacher/instructional coach and is starting his seventh year in administration. He started his career teaching fifth grade and tangoed back and forth between fourth and fifth grade at Cupertino Union School District. He particularly enjoyed working with these age groups because it allowed him the challenge to further strengthen students’ foundational skills while preparing them for middle school. As a believer of new adventure and stepping outside the norm, he also taught at an independent all-girls middle school in the humanities department for two years.

At the core of his teaching philosophy, he believes in intentional teaching and collaborative learning. The collective experience as an educator in varying capacities expanded his interests beyond the classroom. After six years of teaching, Tri became an instructional coach and mentor to assist new teachers in the clearance of their preliminary credential.  Following his instructional coaching role, he served as vice-principal for Belle Haven School in Menlo Park, California before joining the Luther Burbank team.

Recently, Tri finished his doctorate at San José State University educational leadership program and wrote his dissertation on the construction of the classroom community in a full inclusion district.  At heart, Tri believes in collaboration, hard work, and inclusivity.  If you have any questions about the school and the programs offered at Luther Burbank, feel free to reach him at tnguyen@lbsdk8.org
