At Luther Burbank School District, we believe students learn best when they feel safe, connected, heard, and supported. That is why strengthening student voice is an important part of our work to create a positive school climate and culture.
Through Sown To Grow, students regularly share how they are feeling and reflect on their well-being. This gives our staff valuable insight into students’ sense of belonging, relationships, self-awareness, and other social-emotional skills—and, most importantly, helps us identify when a student may need additional support.
Our students are speaking, and our staff are listening. Recent data shows that 100% of student alerts were addressed by staff, and our school has progressed to Strong Practice, the highest level of implementation.
We are grateful to our students for sharing their voices and to our staff for listening, responding, and building meaningful relationships every day.
